The first tank I was in first grade and my mom bought a 10 gallon tank and three goldfish, who all died within a week. That was the end of fish owning for a long, long time. The next tanks During my first term in college and missing my cat terribly, I wanted to take care of something alive. Plants didn't cut it, even though my roommate thought the room looked like a jungle. The only pets that were allowed in the dorms were fish, so a friend and I headed down to the mall's pet store. Amazingly, all the fish survived even though I did EVERYTHING wrong when setting up the tank. They all died not much longer when I moved and the bus company lost the trunk with the tank in it. I settled for a goldfish until I moved out of the dorms and into a house and upgraded to a 20 gallon long tank. Now I have 10 tanks--two 29 gallon tropical tanks (my little fish and my big fish), my old 20 gallon tank outside as a "pond" complete with a waterfall (very tiny waterfall), a couple of goldfish, five bettas, three of whom live at home and two at work, and a tank of Endler's livebearers. |
